Teenager murder jury discharged

The jury in the Aamir Siddiqi murder trial has been discharged.

Ben Hope and Jason Richards were standing trial at Cardiff crown court charged with the murder of the teenager and the attempted murder of his parents.

Both denied the charges.

A South Wales Police spokesperson said: "The prosecution team will focus on preparing for the re-trial and South Wales Police will continue to support the Siddiqi family."

Aamir Siddiqi, 17, died of stab injuries after he was attacked at about 13:40 BST on 11 April, 2010, at his home in Roath in the city.

The victim's father Iqbal, 68, and mother Parveen, 55, rushed to their son's aid before being injured themselves.

Another hearing will take place on 10 February 2012.
