Homicide complaint filed vs Ramgen’s assistant

Like a lioness protecting her young, and trusting her maternal instincts, Genelyn Magsaysay has now turned on one of her children's accusers.

Magsaysay, whose three children have been charged with killing their older brother—actor Ramgen Bautista—has filed a homicide complaint against his personal assistant, Ronaldo Angcajas.

Through lawyer Jeffrey Gepta, Magsaysay filed the complaint Monday afternoon in the Parañaque City Prosecutor's Office seeking a preliminary investigation that would hold Angcajas as a respondent in the killing that happened on October 28.

Gepta, also the lawyer for Ramgen's brother and primary suspect RJ Bautista, said that since the murder complaint against RJ filed by the Parañaque police was "based on circumstantial evidence," Magsaysay decided that she could file a similar complaint against Angcajas.

"The circumstantial evidence actually hits closer. He (Angcajas) had the capability as his build matches that of the assailant. He was in the house, and only claimed to be asleep when the ruckus happened," Gepta said.

Angcajas' affidavit revealed a spat among the siblings concerning family finances.

Gepta said Magsaysay chose to file a homicide instead of a murder complaint since there were no "qualifying circumstances" like treachery, and because the bereaved mother believed her son was not the target of the killing because his girlfriend, Janelle Manahan, was also attacked.

A masked man had shot and stabbed dead Ramgen in his room at the family residence in BF Homes Parañaque.

His girlfriend, Janelle Manahan, was also shot in the face and chest, although she survived the ordeal.

"It was Janelle who got shot first. Ramgen only rushed to her aid," Gepta pointed out.

The Parañaque police had filed murder complaints against RJ and another sibling, Ramona Bautista, alleging they were the masterminds.

Manahan recently also filed murder complaints against another sibling, Gail, and her husband, Hiro Furuyama.
