Homicide suspect arrested in Onancock

ONANCOCK, Va. (WAVY) - An Onancock man was arrested after police say he shot and killed a woman inside her apartment on Tuesday night.

Alphonso Gregory Logan, Jr., 27, was arrested at the scene of the crime and charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to the Accomack County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting occurred Dec. 20 at 10:36 p.m. at the Pine Street Apartments.

Police, deputies, and investigators responded to the scene to find 25-year-old Kiara Shanee Corbin, of Onancock, inside her apartment with an apparent gunshot wound.

Corbin was transported to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Sentara Norfolk General where she later died.

Deputies said the investigation is continuing, but the shooting appears to have been the result of a domestic dispute.

Logan is being held in the Accomack County Jail without bond. Additional charges are pending against Logan.

Flint's battlefield: A three-year murder map

FLINT, MI -- There have been 189 murders in the city since 2010. Below is a map of the locations of each murder in the last three years, as well as the names of the slain on Flint's battlefield. The spike in murders occurred almost immediately after large-scale layoffs in March of 2010. By year's end the city had set a record with 66 murders, breaking the previous mark of 61 set in 1986. Killing continued in 2011 with 57 murders. A look at the map shows the majority of the murders took place on the north and east sides, historically the most economically depressed areas of the city. Just 25 murders in the last three years occurred south of Court Street. The map is color-coded by year.
