Immigration and Customers Enforcement officials have turned a murder suspect captured in San Jose over to Mexican authorities, ICE announced Friday.
Alejandro Ornelas-Cortes, 37, was wanted for fatally shooting a man following an argument at a June 2005 wedding reception in the Mexican state of Guanajuato.
Wednesday, Ornelas was transferred to the custody of the Mexican Attorney General's office.
Earlier this year, ICE agents, acting on a lead from that same Mexican office, tracked down Ornelas. He was arrested on alleged immigration violations on Oct. 27 outside his San Jose home, according to ICE.
On Dec. 12, an immigration judge orders Ornelas removed from the country.
Since Oct. 1, 2009, ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations officers have repatriated about 260 foreign fugitives sought in other countries for crimes ranging from murder to rape to kidnapping.
