Second homicide victim identified
GREAT BEND, PA. -- The second victim of a Saturday shooting has been identified and the suspect has been arraigned, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Gilberto Alvarez, 28, a Florida resident who recently moved to the area for work, was one of the victims shot Saturday afternoon on Pine Ayre Drive.
The accused shooter, Lloyd Richard Thomas, 45, of Hallstead, Pa., was arraigned on two counts of homicide in New Milford and sent to the Susquehanna County Jail without bail, pending a preliminary hearing, police said.
Alvarez was living with the second victim, Joshua Rogers, 30, of New Milford. The two were found shot to death after police were called regarding a man lying on the side of Pine Ayre Drive. After police determined the individual was dead, a search produced a second victim up on a hill. Police determined that the gunshot wounds were not self-inflicted and Thomas was taken into custody.
No motive for the shooting has been determined, police said, and the investigation is ongoing.
According to the Susquehanna County Community Information Network, Thomas operates The Outdoorsman Sporting Goods Shop. The store, which offers major brands of firearms, including rifles, handguns and shotguns, is family-owned and operated.
