Homicide detectives are still on scene in Airdrie, Alta., Saturday morning after police found a woman's body in a Bayside home in the city's southwest Friday afternoon.

They confirm she was a single mom in her 30s. The child is now in the care of family, and it was established by RCMP that the child was not present during the homicide.

A search warrant was executed at a home in the Big Springs area of town in relation to the homicide investigation, but no one was in the residence at the time.

The woman's name has not yet been released and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
