Police investigate East Denver homicide

Denver police are investigating a homicide after a man was found lying in the street Tuesday night with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

At 9:04 p.m., officers were called to the 3600 block of Hudson Street, where they found the victim on the ground next to a vehicle, said Sonny Jackson, a spokesman for the Denver Police Department.

The man, whose name has not been released, had what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his torso.

He was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

The Denver coroner reported the victim was a 19-year-old man.

Police do not have any suspect information, but they believe there are witnesses to the shooting.

What prompted the shooting is still under investigation, Jackson said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
