Murder probe after girl, 13, dies
A murder investigation is under way following the death of a 13-year-old girl who was assaulted.
Emergency services were called to the Elmfield Park area of Doncaster following reports that a girl had been attacked.
She was treated at the scene by police and paramedics, before being taken by ambulance to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
South Yorkshire Police confirmed she had died from her injuries and a murder investigation had been launched.
A 26-year-old woman has been arrested and remains in police custody.
Police said the attack had been reported to them by the girl herself, who raised the alarm just before 1.20pm.
A member of staff at the nearby Earl of Doncaster Hotel, who declined to give his name, said the park had been cordoned off by officers, who had also come in to speak to the general manager about the incident.
