Police: Washington Park homicide victim had ties to Vancouver

A homicide victim found in Washington Park in June was identified as a 15-year-old who was visiting family in Vancouver, Portland police said Monday.
Mayra Sophia Cruz Rodriguez from San Diego County, Calif. was visiting relatives in Vancouver when she was reported a runaway on June 15, according to a Portland Police Bureau bulletin. Her body was found in Washington Park on June 26.
She was reported as a runaway in San Diego County before coming to Vancouver, police said.
Clark County Sheriff's Office Detective Kevin Schmidt notified Portland police. Cruz was identified using dental records.
Mark Beebout, the defendant in this homicide, as well as the homicide of Nikayla Powell, has been indicted on multiple charges of aggravated murder.
