UPDATED: Suspects Held in Apparent Santa Fe Homicide

Police say the homicide discovered today at a senior housing complex on Santa Fe's Luisa Street took place in the apartment of a man named George Ortiz. But police say they can't confirm that the dead man in the apartment is Ortiz due to the "severity" of the scene.

Santa Fe police officers investigate the scene of a homicide at a senior housing complex on Luisa Street today.

There was a fire in the apartment, officers say. Police won't say if the body was burned.

Suspects picked up in Rio Arriba County were being interviewed late this afternoon.

Rio Arriba County Sheriff Tommy Rodella and Lt. Vince Crespin have taken into custody two suspects, a young man and a young woman,  in today's apparent homicide at a senior housing complex in Santa Fe.

Rio Arriba Sheriff's Office spokesman Jake Arnold says the suspects were found after Santa Fe police put out a be-on-the-lookout notice for a vehicle in connection with the homicide. The vehicle and the two suspects were found at the Walgreens store in Espanola and the suspects were arrested. Arnold said the suspects are being held for Santa Fe police.

Arnold couldn't say how many people are being held.

Santa Fe Police are investigating a death near a senior housing complex as a possible homicide.

Capt. Aric Wheeler said a male is deceased near 1512 Luisa St. The call came in to police at about 12:03 p.m. today, but Wheeler would not immediately release more details about the incident.
