Homicide suspect remains hospitalized

Homicide suspect Matthew Zach Aldaz remains in custody at a Pueblo hospital despite his name being on a local "Most Wanted" list.

Aldaz is suspected of the Sept. 22 shooting death of Thomas Abeyta, 38.

After the shooting Aldaz crashed his truck and was partially paralyzed.

Aldaz, 25, has been in police custody since the incident, but his name is currently on the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office's "Most Wanted" list.

Charlene Graham, the sheriff's office's chief of law enforcement, said she didn't know why Aldaz was on the list and that they were looking into the matter.

The reason could be clerical, as Aldaz's warrant for first-degree murder is still listed as "active" in court files.

Aldaz is not on the Pueblo Police Department's wanted list.
