Homicide victim's adopted son arrested for SUV theft

Charleston Police arrested the adopted son a murder victim after finding him with the victim's SUV.

Walker Wayne Pinkleton was arrested and charged with grand larceny. Police have also named him a "person of interest" in the  murder in West Ashley that happened on Sunday.

Police say that someone shot and killed 59-year-old Patricia Walker in her bedroom on Orangegrove Road.

Patricia Walker was the adopted mother of Pinkleton. Walkers husband was out of town, leaving her with Pinkleton. Police say there was a dead bolt lock on their bedroom door, because Pinkleton supposedly had a narcotics problem. The Key to that lock was on a key chai, along the keys to their SUV.

When police found Walker dead, they noticed that the SUV was missing.

A number of witnesses told police that they witnessed Pinkleton driving the SUV as well as another car owned by the family. So far, the SUV has still not been returned.

Pinkleton has a previous record and was on probation. His previous charges include possession and burglary.

Apparently the Walkers parents became concerned when they had not heard from her. When they and police entered her home, they found she had been shot and killed, with a single gunshot wound to the back of the head.

Detectives do believe the victim knew her killer.
