Pataskala Homicide Suspect Arrested, Charged

PATASKALA, Ohio -- Detectives from the Pataskala police department have released the name of the man suspected of fatally shooting a man Sunday morning.

Danny G. Hensley, 49, of Columbus has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder. He is accused of fatally shooting a man early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the 6700 block of Mink Road in Pataskala on a report of an alarm at a property at about 6:40 a.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival, responding officers found the body 69-year-old Thomas L. Miller with multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives say it appears that Miller had gone to the property, which consists of various farm-related structures, to check out what had activated the alarm. The investigation indicates he Miller was confronted on the property by a male suspect, who then shot him.

Hensley was arrested on the property by arriving responding officers, following a short foot pursuit.

Although the investigation is on-going, detectives say evidence indicates that Hensley was present on the property with the intent to steal when he was confronted by Miller.

Investigators found a firearm on scene that is believed to be the murder weapon, though forensic testing has not yet confirmed that.

Hensley is scheduled to be be arraigned Monday afternoon. The Licking County Prosecuting Attorney Kenneth W. Oswalt has asked that no bond be set regarding this incident.

Hensley is currently being held in the Licking County Jail.

Additional charges of aggravated robbery are possible, according to Oswalt.
