Women arrested over Tang murder

Police investigating the murder of Simon Tang in Carrickfergus nearly 16 years ago have arrested two women.

The suspects, aged 33 and 34, were arrested in Carrickfergus on Wednesday morning.

Mr Tang, 28, who was married with two sons, was beaten and robbed as he left his takeaway business on 24 June 1996.

It is thought that two youths attacked him and stole less than £400 and his watch.

He was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.

Mr Tang's murder was featured on the BBC's Crimewatch programme on 20 March. No-one has been charged with his murder.

In January, police said they were following new lines of inquiry and appealed for more help from the community.

They said they would like to speak to two men who were seen walking up Ellis Street towards the Good Future takeaway restaurant at about midnight on 24 June 1996.

Police were also keen to speak to a woman who contacted the Mater Hospital on the night of the murder asking about the condition of the "Chinese man" who had been assaulted.

Mr Tang was an Oxford University graduate, but instead of pursuing a career in architecture he took over the family business.

Flint's battlefield: A three-year murder map

FLINT, MI -- There have been 189 murders in the city since 2010. Below is a map of the locations of each murder in the last three years, as well as the names of the slain on Flint's battlefield. The spike in murders occurred almost immediately after large-scale layoffs in March of 2010. By year's end the city had set a record with 66 murders, breaking the previous mark of 61 set in 1986. Slain woman is Camden’s 67th murder victim this year

Emily Babay, Breaking News Desk Posted: Monday, December 17, 2012, 1:51 PM Camden's murder total for 2012 reached a record 67 late Sunday, when a 25-year-old woman was gunned down outside her home. Rasheeda Pegues was found slain on the 2000 block of Ferry Avenue shortly after 11 p.m., the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said. She had died from multiple gunshot wounds. No arrests have been made in the killing. The murder is Camden's 67th this year, far surpassing the city's previous record of 58, set in 1995. Pegues' death was the second killing in Camden over the weekend. On Saturday night, 36-year-old Rahkeem Byrd was shot inside a house on the 1100 block of Thurman Street and died at a hospital.
