EVERETT -- Police on Wednesday were canvassing the View Ridge-Madison neighborhood in Everett after a man was found dead there the night before.
A neighbor spotted the man on the ground outside a vacant house at 22 Madison St. He called 911 about 6:20 p.m.
The man had obvious signs of trauma to his torso, police said. He looked to be in his late 20s or early 30s.
The Everett Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death as a homicide, Lt. Robert Goetz said.
Detectives declined to say more about how they believe the man may have died. There are no identified suspects or motives.
Detectives received a search warrant around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday and collected evidence at the scene.
They returned Wednesday afternoon to look for clues in the daylight, Goetz said.
The victim's identity had not been determined as of late Wednesday afternoon. The body was turned over to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office.

For nearly six years, they were locked up facing a possible death sentence for a grisly 2001 triple homicide in Ypsilanti Township. On Friday, a federal judge dismissed the charges against Deondre Byrd and three other men after a federal prosecutor said new evidence came to light last Friday that prevented the government from taking the case to trial. FLINT, MI -- There have been 189 murders in the city since 2010. Below is a map of the locations of each murder in the last three years, as well as the names of the slain on Flint's battlefield. The spike in murders occurred almost immediately after large-scale layoffs in March of 2010. By year's end the city had set a record with 66 murders, breaking the previous mark of 61 set in 1986. Detectives identified the persons of interest as 23-year-old Lorenzo Holmes and 22-year-old Willie Bryant III. DeAnthony "D.A."
