JENKINTOWN, Pa. (CBS) — A homicide suspect being pursued by police jumped in front of train in Montgomery County early Monday morning, police said. Authorities say the suspect survived and was taken to the hospital.

The manhunt for the suspect caused the Jenkintown Middle and High School to be placed on lockdown; which has since been lifted.

The incident began when police spotted the unidentified suspect walking on a street in Jenkintown. The suspect ran and a police pursuit ensued.

The suspect was eventually spotted near the Jenkintown Middle and High School and for that reason, the school was placed on lockdown.

At about 10:45 a.m., police say the suspect jumped in front of a SEPTA regional rail train between the Noble and Jenkintown stations.

The suspect was placed under custody and was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

According to authorities, the suspect is wanted for a homicide in New York.

The lockdown at the Jenkintown Middle and High School was lifted shortly after the suspect was captured.

Officials say service in both directions on the West Trenton Line was suspended while police investigated the incident.
