Two people charged after the death of two girls in a car crash in Tauranga at Christmas have pleaded not guilty to murder.
Phillippa Morehu, 36, and Haki Tetuere Davey, 17, have both been charged with two counts of murder over the deaths of Brooklyn and Merepeka Morehu-Clark, 13 and 14, on Christmas Day.
They entered their pleas in Tauranga District Court this morning.
Morehu, the girls' mother, and Davey were passengers in the car which was allegedly being driven the girls' 20-year-old cousin, Metaraka Hikurangi Reihana.
He also faces two charges of murder.
The group were on their way to visit the girls' grandmother's grave at Tahuwhakatiki Cemetery when they were killed.
