A Connecticut man was charged with first-degree manslaughter Friday in connection with a fatal shooting at a Tulsa apartment complex last month.Chad Michael Cook, 22, is accused of causing the March 22 death of 26-year-old Matthew Allen Boddy at the Wedgewood Court apartments, 1140 E. 61st St.Several men were arguing in the parking lot when multiple guns apparently were drawn and fired, police said at the time. At least 20 shell casings were found in the parking lot.Tulsa County Assistant District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler, chief of the office's Criminal Division, said evidence shows that Cook got into an argument with three men and that Boddy, who apparently tried to intervene, was inadvertently shot when gunfire broke out.Kunzweiler said it is apparent that Cook wasn't intending to harm Boddy.The first-degree manslaughter charge filed Friday alleges that Cook shot Boddy while recklessly handling a firearm.Cook was booked into the Tulsa Jail on a second-degree murder complaint on March 22, but Kunzweiler said Friday that a review of the evidence showed that first-degree manslaughter was the more appropriate charge.

For nearly six years, they were locked up facing a possible death sentence for a grisly 2001 triple homicide in Ypsilanti Township. On Friday, a federal judge dismissed the charges against Deondre Byrd and three other men after a federal prosecutor said new evidence came to light last Friday that prevented the government from taking the case to trial. It was the second time in three years that Byrd escaped murder charges. FLINT, MI -- There have been 189 murders in the city since 2010. Below is a map of the locations of each murder in the last three years, as well as the names of the slain on Flint's battlefield. The spike in murders occurred almost immediately after large-scale layoffs in March of 2010. By year's end the city had set a record with 66 murders, breaking the previous mark of 61 set in 1986. Killing continued in 2011 with 57 murders. A look at the map shows the majority of the murders took place on the north and east sides, historically the most economically depressed areas of the city. Rasheeda Pegues was found slain on the 2000 block of Ferry Avenue shortly after 11 p.m., the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said. She had died from multiple gunshot wounds. No arrests have been made in the killing. The murder is Camden's 67th this year, far surpassing the city's previous record of 58, set in 1995. Pegues' death was the second killing in Camden over the weekend. On Saturday night, 36-year-old Rahkeem Byrd was shot inside a house on the 1100 block of Thurman Street and died at a hospital.
