UPDATE: Suspect in York homicide turns himself in

Homicide Suspect Ronald Lake turned himself in to authorities early this afternoon.

Gunfire in the 200 block of Walnut Street in York City turned deadly early Saturday morning.

Jerry Correa, 33, was killed when a bullet fired near the car he was riding in struck him in the head.

"He was my baby brother. We was always together," said Milly Correa, the victim's sister.

York City Police have filed a warrant for 29-year-old Ronald Lake. Lake is charged with criminal homicide.

"At this time, we have no connection. There's no connection at all with what was going on in the street  and the victim," said Lt. Tim Utley of the York City Police Department.

A stray bullet also hit a woman's home just yards from where Correa was shot.

"Go right on my floor, because I don't want to be get killed," she said.

Correa's family is in the process of setting up funeral arrangements. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

"We can't go out and be angry at this person because it was another situation. Somebody else's situation. He just happened to be in the crossfire," said Milly Correa.

Police said Lake is considered armed and dangerous.

York City Police sent the following press release regarding the shooting:

York City Police are investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday morning in the 200 blk. of Walnut St. At 0311 AM the victim, Jerry Correa, 33, York City, was a passenger in a vehicle in the 200 blk. of Walnut St. when several shots were fired in the area of the vehicle. One of the bullets entered the vehicle striking the victim in the head. The occupants of the vehicle continued enroute to York Hospital until flagging down an officer for assistance. The victim was pronounced dead at York Hospital a short time later. Detectives are investigating. Update: Detectives have obtained a warrant in the shooting de! ath of J erry Correa that occurred on 5/12/12. Police are charging Ronald Lake, 29, last known address of 204 N. Pine St., York, with firing the shots that struck Correa as he was a passenger in a vehicle that was passing through the 200 blk. of Walnut St.The charges against Lake are Criminal Homicide.
