Homicide team seeks scooter

Police say finding a red motor scooter could be important in their investigation of a woman's death near Nelson earlier this month.

Sharyn Wilkinson-Foley, 39, died after she was assaulted in her home in Richmond on May 10.

Police have charged a 55-year-old Nelson man with her murder but Detective Sergeant Craig Johnston says finding the scooter could help the investigation.

Det Sgt Johnston says the scooter, registration 41YDU, was last known to have been in the area around Motueka, west of Richmond.

The 55-year-old accused was granted name suppression when he first appeared in Nelson District Court and remanded in custody until June.
