By: Charleston County Sheriff's Office Release | WCBD News 2

On May 22 at approximately 7p.m. homicide suspect Dashaun Simmons turned himself in at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.

Simmons was wanted on outstanding warrants resulting from the May 16, 2012 shooting death of Kadeem Chambers and the assault of Jujuain Hemmingway off of Cynthia Avenue, Johns Island.

Simmons was arrested and charged with Murder, Attempted Murder, Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Simmons went before a bond court judge Wednesday afternoon. Judge Linda Lombard gave Simmons no bond for his armed robbery, attempted murder and murder charges. She gave him a $ 100,000 bond on his charge of possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime.

After bond court, the victim's family members were emotional outside as the reality of what happened to their loved ones set in. The mother of Dashaun Simmons also teared up as she talked about the situation. She tells News 2 she feels for the family of Kadeem Chambers and Jujuain Hemingway. She said she does not believe her son would do something like murder, but she does want to see justice done in the case.

Detectives are still attempting to locate Denzel Heyward who also has outstanding warrants for Murder, Attempted Murder, Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Heyward is asked to call the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at 843-202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
