Homicide detectives probe fatal Grafton fire

Police are treating the death of a woman in a house fire in northern New South Wales last week as suspicious.

The 47-year-old's body was found inside the extensively damaged home at South Grafton just after 2:30am (AEST) last Friday.

The state's Homicide Squad is now helping with the investigation into the blaze.

An autopsy has found the woman suffered severe burns but also had other injuries.

Arson investigators are examining what sparked the fire and if it was lit to disguise a murder.

Detectives want to hear from anyone who knows anything about the fire or the woman's death.
