Murder probe over street stabbing

A murder inquiry has been launched after a 25-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Castlemilk, Glasgow.

The man was walking in Tormusk Road with a male friend when an altercation took place with a group of males and females at about 23:45 on Wednesday.

He was taken to the Victoria Infirmary but found to be dead on arrival. His friend was uninjured.

Police want anyone who saw the incident or has information about the group of males and females to get in touch.

Det Insp Joe McKerns, of Strathclyde Police, said: "We believe that the victim and his friend were approached by a group of approximately six males and two females in Tormusk Road.

"The victim was then stabbed and it is unclear at this time what prompted this attack.

"His friend summoned an ambulance and a female went to his assistance. We don't know if this female had been with the group and I am anxious for her to get in touch."

An incident room has been set up at Cathcart police office.
