Attempted Homicide leaves two in critical condition
Seminole Heights, Florida-- The Tampa Police Department responded to a shooting that has two victims in critical condition this evening at Tampa General Hospital.
The incident occurred around 3:25 this afternoon at 1604 E. Paris, Tampa, FL 33610.
According to TPD, one of the victims, Edward S. Evans, 22, was standing in the yard of the residence arguing with the suspect, Akhnaten K. Casey, 27, over an alleged theft of property, when Casey pulled a handgun and shot Evans in the upper torso.
TPD reports that Evans' brother, 33-year-old Abdullah Ibn Al Islam, ran to his brother's aid and engaged in a struggle over the gun with Casey.
Casey then allegedly shot Al Islam in the leg and back area.
According to TPD, Casey fled on foot, but officers were able to capture him and retrieve the handgun.
