Police officer pleads not guilty to manslaughter

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A state judge has denied a request for a reduction in bond for a New Orleans police officer indicted for manslaughter in the shooting of an unarmed man.

WWL TV reports Joshua Colclough was seeking a reduction in his $ 300,000 bond. He entered a not guilty plea in court Monday and remains free on the bond.

The district attorney's office said it would push for a minimum 20-year sentence in the case if Colclough is convicted of manslaughter.

Colclough was indicted by a grand jury last week in the death of 20-year-old Wendell Allen during a drug raid at his family home earlier this year.
