Homicide reported in Rancho Santa Fe

— Sheriff's officials on Sunday said they had classified the death of a man whose body was found outside a home on the outskirts of Rancho Santa Fe Friday as a homicide.

The body was found outside a residence on Sun Valley Road north of Ladera Sarina around 11:12 a.m. Friday. Homicide detectives and crime lab personnel were called due to unspecified suspicious circumstances at the scene.

After an autopsy was conducted Saturday the case was classified as a homicide, said sheriff's Lt. Larry Nesbit. Homicide detectives returned to the home to follow up on the initial investigation conducted Friday.

No further information about the victim or the cause of death was released.
