Homicide Unit leading southwest suspicious death investigation

A man believed to be in his 50s is dead after a possible fight in the Cedar Brae Plaza.

Police responded to a disturbance call at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, finding the victim injured in the parking lot in front of Swigs Pub.

He was rushed to Foothills Hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Residents of the area say the neighbourhood is normally safe, but a few did note a history of violence at Swigs Pub.

Duty Inspector Craig Skelton would not confirm whether the victim died of injuries caused in a fight.

"The exact nature of what led up to that, we don't know at this point," he said.

Police are interviewing witnesses but do not have any suspects.

"That's what our Homicide Unit is actively engaged in, is trying to identify both people that may be responsible for this event and people that may have information on this event," Skelton said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers.
