Homicide investigation: neighbors see digging in backyard

A murder investigation in south Bakersfield is shrouded in secrecy.

Bakersfield police aren't saying much, except that they served a search warrant at a home in the 200 block of Curnow Road on Wednesday as part of a murder investigation. The neighborhood is west of South Union Avenue.

Neighbors tell 17 News they saw police dogs searching the property and digging for something in the yard, where it appeared there were several digging tools, dirt sifters, and buckets near a portable tent.

Police tell us they are not sure how big the actual crime scene is.

Nearby residents also tell us the house is a rental and the most recent tenants have only been there a few months. They also say they recently saw someone with a tractor working in the yard.

Public records show the home was purchased by Ricardo Godina in 2007.

Neighbors say a fence with several "No trespassing" signs was put in when the latest tenants moved in the home.
