EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The neighborhood of Metacomet Avenue was quiet Saturday morning as police detectives combed through the home where a 50-year-old female lived.

Around 6:30 p.m. Friday, East Providence police found a woman on the first floor of 71 Metacomet Avenue, dead. Police have not yet identified who it was, but they say family members contacted police after they hadn't heard from her for over 48 hours.

After police arrived at the house, they say they determined that the woman was murdered.

Police say they do have a person of interest in the case, but they have not yet been able to locate them.

ABC6 News will have more details on this story tonight on ABC6 News at Six.
