Former Kentucky bus driver guilty of reckless homicide
BARDWELL, Ky. – A jury in western Kentucky has found a former bus driver guilty of reckless homicide in a crash last year that killed a 6-year-old student.
A Carlisle County jury found Anita Roach guilty of one count of reckless homicide on Thursday afternoon.
Roach was driving a Carlisle County bus that was returning students to school after a field trip.
The Paducah Sun reports Roach was found not guilty on several other charges, including second-degree assault and wanton endangerment.
Roach testified on Wednesday that she asked God why she didn't die instead of the boy, Logan Simpson. She told Logan's parents she would "have died that day" to let their son live.
She is scheduled to be sentenced later on Thursday.
