Arrest in made in 2009 District homicide
D.C. police said an arrest has been made in a homicide case that languished unresolved for more than 2 1/2 years.
The suspect, Raymond L. Smith, 39, was arrested Thursday by a Washington-area fugitive task force and charged in a slaying that occurred Nov. 14, 2009, in the 2000 block of 16th Street SE, police said.
Shortly after 1 a.m. that autumn Saturday, police officers investigating a report of gunfire found Frederick D. Ard, 42, bleeding on the ground. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Smith has been charged with second-degree murder while armed.
