Paeroa manslaughter scene probe continues

Police investigating a suspected manslaughter in Paeroa will spend another two days examining the scene where a pizza shop owner was found dead.

Jordan Voudouris' body was found in an alley leading to his Mykonos Pizza and Pasta business in the Waikato town on Monday.

Following a post-mortem examination police on Tuesday confirmed Mr Voudouris' death was being treated as suspicious.

A statement from police on Wednesday afternoon says a scene examination is likely to continue until Friday as investigators try to piece together the events leading to Mr Voudouris' demise.

"The investigation team are still working to profile and background Mr Jordan Voudouris to gain an understanding of his habits and routines," Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Whitehead said.

Police have already spoken to friends, family and other members of the public but are still appealing for sightings of Mr Voudouris.

They especially want to speak to people who were in central Paeroa between 10pm Sunday and 6am Monday.

It hasn't been revealed what injuries Mr Voudouris suffered or how they were caused.

Police are continuing to investigate whether his death was linked to an attempted service station robbery in Waihi, 20km east of Paeroa, and an aggravated robbery of a dairy in Katikati, a further 25km to the southeast.

Security camera footage suggested the two robberies were carried out by the same offenders.

It's understood one of the offenders was armed with a pistol and police believe, given the timing of the robberies, that a car was parked nearby.
