Manslaughter conviction for Md. woman in boyfriend’s overdose death
HAGERSTOWN, Md. — A Smithsburg woman has been convicted of involuntary homicide for injecting her boyfriend with a fatal drug overdose.
The Herald-Mail reports that 34-year-old Chastity Kline was found guilty after entering an Alford plea to the charge Tuesday in Hagerstown. An Alford plea is not an admission of guilt but an acknowledgement that the state has enough evidence for a conviction.
She was sentenced to the 349 days she has already spent locked up, awaiting trial. The remainder of a 10-year sentence was suspended.
Kline was charged in the February 2011 death of 33-year-old Cody Delauter.
Prosecutors say she told friends that on the day before Delauter died, she injected him several times with a mixture of heroin and cocaine.
