Double manslaughter trial continues today in Meadville

MEADVILLE -- Gary C. Wiley allegedly told another inmate that he killed a Linesville couple because they knew that he had robbed a local pharmacy.

Wiley, 39, of Linesville, is on trial in Crawford County Court for the murders of Tod and Laurie Prenatt at their home in April 2010.

He was convicted in 2011 of robbing Linesville Rite Aid of cash and OxyContin days before the killings and is jailed at the Crawford County Correctional Facility in Saegertown.

Wiley told police a different story. In a recorded interview at the jail, Wiley said that a reputed drug dealer knew "too much too soon" about the murders and had texted him that he and his family might "be next."

But police testified Thursday that subpoenaed cell phone records show that no threats were made on man's phone. And Wiley, when he agreed to wear a recording device and try to set up a meeting with the man, could not substantiate the claim.
