Homicide victim's family gives back, seeks justice
PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The parents of a Portland murder victim are trying to help other victims of violent crimes.
It has been more than two years since 25 year-old Darien Richardson was shot by masked gunmen in her Portland bedroom. Richardson died from those wounds two months after the shooting, and the murder is still unsolved.
Richardson's parents have started a non-profit, Remembering Darien, to help victims of violent crimes. It's a way for them to give back, keep Darien's memory alive, and remind the public that her killer is still out there.
"Somebody out these knows," Darien's father Wayne Richardson said. "Somebody out there has the answers for us to get these people caught and arrested, and that's what we live with every day, knowing that somebody's out there walking the streets. This could happen again."
There will be a Walk to Remember Darien on Saturday March 24th along Baxter Boulevard in Portland at 1 p.m.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Portland Police, or you can anonymously text a tip using your cell phone by texting the word "gotcha" and your tip to the number 274637 (crimes).
