22-year-old charged with intoxicated manslaughter after fatal wreck

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A 22-year-old man was charged with intoxicated manslaughter after the vehicle he was driving struck another vehicle killing a 56-year-old man early Monday morning.
According to police, Freddie Guajardo, 22, was driving northbound on Arthur at about 2:21 a.m., in a 2005 Chevy pickup when he struck a 1999 Nissan Sentra that was traveling eastbound on 10th.
The passenger of the Nissan, 56-year-old Raymond Lewis Bates died at the scene, police said. As for the driver, 18-year-old Dillon Charles Lavallee, police said he left the scene on foot but was later found at his home. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was not arrested.
Guajardo was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation and was later booked into the Potter County Jail on a charge of Intoxicated Manslaughter, police said.
An autopsy was ordered on Bates and the crash remains under investigation. Police said investigators have not yet established which vehicle ran the red light.
