PEORIA, Ill -- Last week's murder of T.C. Driver is not being investigated as a random killing, according to the Peoria County State's Attorney.

Driver was shot and killed with a single gunshot wound in Peoria last Thursday.

Driver's step-daughter says she had heard rumors that he was going to testify next month against a man charged with murder.

Reports have now surfaced that Driver was to testify against Darrin Hardimon, charged with a fatal shooting outside of Club Apollo last February.

Akilah Williams says she never knew her step-father to be involved in any criminal activity.

"He was always willing to give a helping hand. He would give his shoes off his feet to somebody that needed it," says Williams. "So for somebody to take his life like this is just crazy."

Williams says Driver helped take care of her family for the past 11 years.

She believes his reported intent to testify was a simple act of doing the right thing.
