An Omaha father of two was killed Wednesday night in a shooting near Miller Park.

Kyle E. McCroy, 30, was shot four times, including once in the back of the head, about 8:30 p.m. in the 5800 block of Florence Boulevard.

He is the city's ninth homicide in 2012.

Bennie McCroy said his son is survived by two children and 10 siblings.

"We're all taking it hard," Bennie McCroy said Thursday morning.

Kyle E. McCroy was taken to Creighton University Medical Center in extremely critical condition after the shooting and later died at the hospital, Omaha police said.

Police said Thursday morning that they had no suspects in custody.

McCroy's father said he did not know any details surrounding the shooting.

He said his son recently began working for UPS.

The Omaha native has a lengthy criminal history of mostly misdeamnor infractions, including possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license.

Police asked anyone with information regarding the robbery to contact CrimeStoppers at 444-7867. Tips can also be given at omahacrimestoppers.net or by sending the text message "OPD" and the information to 274637.
