Latest homicide victim identified

Toronto police have identified the city's latest homicide victim.

Chris Thompson was the 35-year-old barber who was shot and killed inside the Cut Creator barber shop at 31 Tapscott Road in the Malvern Town Centre.

Investigators say a man entered the shop about 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday and fired several shots at Thompson, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the shooting happened in front of other patrons and employees who were inside the shop.

The suspect fled through the plaza parking lot toward McLevin Avenue.

He is described as wearing dark clothing, carrying a small bag over his right shoulder and believed to be in possession of a long-barreled firearm.

"There could be more suspects involved in this case," Const. Tony Vella said. "He, or they, are considered armed and dangerous."

Vella said police are asking anyone with any information on the case to come forward.

Police say they will update the public on their investigation on Wednesday afternoon.

Thompson is the fifth homicide victim so far this year.
