County homicide detectives investigate McKees Rocks killing
Allegheny County homicide detectives are trying to learn why a McKees Rocks man was shot to death early this morning.
Police said 24-year-old Quinn White was shot in the head at close range after midnight at Churchill Street and Front Alley near a convenience store in McKees Rocks.
He was talking on a cell phone to his girlfriend who heard him say "What's up?" before the phone went silent, homicide squad Sgt. Scott Scherer said.
Witnesses told police they heard a lone gunshot and saw Mr. White lying in the street. Police believe he might have been walking from the Meyers Ridge housing development, where his parents lived, to his own apartment on Olivia Street when he was shot.
Detectives spent the morning viewing surveillance footage, canvassing the area and talking to those who knew Mr. White, who McKees Rocks police Chief Robert Cifrulak said had only "a few nicks" on his criminal record.
As for a motive, the chief added, "We're still working on that."
