Manslaughter accused excused from court
A 17-year-old charged with manslaughter after two girls died in a Christmas Day road smash in Welcome Bay had his attendance excused from court today.
Haki Davey was remanded to next appear in Tauranga District Court on February 23 - the same day as co-accused Phillippa Morehu, 36, and Hetaraka Reihana, 20.
Sisters Merepeka Morehu-Clark, 14, and Brooklyn Morehu-Clark, 13, died in the crash.
Neither Morehu nor Davey was in the crash vehicle.
