Homicide suspected in death of Dearborn man

Police say they found a 45-year-old Dearborn man dead inside his home Sunday night from an apparent homicide.

Dearborn Police investigators discovered Hassan Jaber in a house in the 6200 block of Williamson Street at 8 p.m. Sunday, according to Dearborn Police Lt. Doug Topolski.

"The neighbor hadn't heard from this guy for several days, and they found him in the house," Topolski said today.

Investigators were not saying whether the man was shot or assaulted, only that they believe a homicide occurred. Topolski said investigators were holding back on the release of information because a suspect is not yet in custody.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office is expected to perform an autopsy today.

Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad is asking the public to come forward with tips in the case.

"The Dearborn Police will leave no stone unturned in this matter, and I'm requesting anyone with any information in this incident to please contact the Dearborn Police Department," he said in a release issued today.

Anyone with information can call the department's tip line at 313-943-3012 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP.

HUNTING THE ZODIAC - Documentary

huntingthezodiac.com | "Hunting The Zodiac" is a 63-minute documentary about the vast subculture of amateur detectives who are obsessed with solving the Zodiac Killer case from the late 1960s. Shot in 2001-02, the film chronicles a turning point in the hunt for the psychopath who killed at least 5 people in the San Francisco Bay Area and mailed more than a dozen bizarre letters and coded messages to local newspapers. HTZ includes extensive interviews with the last two San Francisco homicide detectives to be assigned to the case, and it features more than 8 minutes of rare archival news footage from the earliest days of the Zodiac investigation. But the film's main focus is on a new breed of Zodiac investigator -- retirees, nurses, librarians, massage therapists, bakers, factory managers, pilots, interior decorators. Amateur detectives from around the world are dedicating vast amounts of their time and money to hunt a serial killer who, so far, has kept his promise to never be caught. For professional detectives, hunting the Zodiac is barely a part-time job. But for the amateurs, it's a full-time obsession. Learn more at http
