Ferrisburgh, VT -

Vermont State Police are searching for a suspect in a murder investigation that took place late last night. The following is a press release:

At approximately 11:56 PM on Friday, July 27, the Vermont State Police received a 911 call regarding an assault on Sand Road in Ferrisburgh. The Vermont State Police New Haven and Vergennes Rescue were dispatched immediately. Upon arrival emergency responders located a male patient, later identified as Conrad Bell, age 40 of Vergennes, who was unresponsive and resuscitative efforts were initiated.

Bell was transported to the Fletcher Allen Medical Center; where he later died as a result of his injuries. During the initial investigation, it was learned that an altercation occurred between several members of a group of people attending a bonfire and a male that drove up to the group.

The suspect, Joseph Bolduc, age 25 of Burlington, left the scene before law enforcement arrived.  Troopers from the New Haven Barracks immediately initiated a search for Bolduc.  Detectives from the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to both the residence and the hospital.

They were assisted by members of the Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team.  With the assistance of Vergennes Police Department, Bolduc was taken into custody in Ferrisburg after assaulting a State Trooper. Bolduc was arrested early this morning on multiple charges including: DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Negligent Operation, Resisting Arrest, and Attempting to Disarm a LE Officer.
Other charges will be forthcoming.

Bolduc will be lodged on a no bail hold at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility.  Bell was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be performed. At this time, the official cause and manner of death are pending the completion of the autopsy.

An update will come as more information is released.
