Man wanted in homicide arrested in Newport News

A Newport News man wanted in a homicide and two other shootings is in custody tonight.

Tyrek Allen surrendered to police at about 8 p.m. in the first block of Traverse Road, police spokesman Lou Thurston said. Police had called for a tactical situation at the Abbington Landing Apartments when Allen came out.

Allen, 19, had been wanted in a Feb. 21 triple shooting and a homicide on July 22. Newport News warrants were on file for murder, three counts of malicious wounding and four counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Allen also was wanted in a shooting July 21 in Hampton.
