Homicide leads to KCK standoff

KANSAS CITY, Kan. —

A fatal shooting early Thursday morning in Kansas City, Kan., has led to a standoff.

Police have surrounded a home near South Mill Street and Southwest Boulevard. Police negotiators are trying to make contact with a person believed to be inside.

KMBC's Rebecca Gannon reported that officers were called to the 2300 block of South Mill Street about 3:45 a.m. and found a man dead on a lawn.

Witnesses told police the shooter ran to a neighboring home.

Neighbors have not been evacuated, but were encouraged by police to stay indoors.
