Homicide detectives investigating shooting

On Sept. 9, deputies from the Kern Valley Substation were dispatched to a rural mountainous area approximately 20 miles southeast of Lake Isabella for a victim of a shooting.

When deputies arrived they learned while two males were hunting one of the subjects slipped and fell. As he fell his finger was on the trigger of the rifle he was carrying.

The subject pulled the trigger when he landed on the ground and the rifle discharged striking the other subject. When deputies reached the victim of the shooting they found him deceased.

Homicide detectives from Bakersfield were dispatched to the scene to investigate. At this time there is no further information being released regarding the shooting. No names are being released pending further investigation.
