Maine girl's homicide hearing set

SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP) — A competency hearing is set for this week for the 11-year-old Maine girl charged in the death of an infant, and her lawyer wants the session to be closed.

Attorney John Martin is seeking to close Thursday's scheduled hearing for the Fairfield girl, who was charged at age 10 with juvenile homicide in the death of 3-month-old Brooklyn Foss-Greenaway. The victim had been staying overnight in the girl's home in the care of the girl's mother at the time of her death last summer.

Assistant Attorney General Andrew Benson is opposing closing the hearing, which is to be held in Skowhegan District Court.
