Cleveland Police investigate apparent homicide on west side
CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Homicide Detectives are investigating after a man in his early 30s was killed on the city's west side.
The incident happened on the second floor of a home in the 2200 block of West 101st Street at about 3 a.m. Cleveland EMS crews responded to a reported assault on a woman, but found a dead man at the scene.
Police say a boyfriend and girlfriend got into a physical fight and during the fight, the girlfriend's brother, Adam Szajko, 21, got involved.
Szajko put the boyfriend in a choke hold, police said. When police arrived, the boyfriend was dead.
Officers arrested Szajko at the scene.
The girlfriend from the fight was taken to Fairview Hospital. Her condition is not available.
The official cause of death is under investigation by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
