Murder hunt after 16-year-old stabbed at party

An ambulance was called at around 1.30am on Sunday to a block of flats in Wandsworth, South London where a youth was lying in a ground floor stairwell.

Paramedics were unable to save the boy and he was declared dead at the scene. A manslaughter investigation was launched by Scotland Yard.

A number of people have been arrested in connection with the inquiry and are now in custody at various police stations in south and central London.

But police are seeking information about a group of up to eight males who fled from the flats at Albon House in Neville Gill Close.

An incident room was opened at Sutton police station under Detective Chief Inspector Nick Scola of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.

DCI Scola said: "I believe the victim had attended a party in Albon House. I need to trace everyone at that party, and in particular I am appealing for any information about a group of between five and eight males seen running from the scene into the surrounding streets and possibly through King George's Park."

The victim's family has been informed and a post mortem conducted but officers were still awaiting formal identification last night.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 020 8721 4005 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
