Mounties say the car was parked near Hyland Elementary School, near 66th Avenue and 140th Street.

"We received a call from one of the civilians who lives in the area that they've seen a car parked in the street for the last few days. When they approached the car, they found a male lying in the car," said RCMP Sgt. Joe Johal.

"We arrived on the scene and found the male deceased in the car."

The victim's name has not been released but it appears the victim is Vimal Chand, a 29-year-old who went missing Sunday night.

He was identified by the administrator of a Facebook page set up by Chand's family to help spread the word of his disappearance.

Chand had a criminal record, including a conviction for assault with a weapon, but his sister described him as a family man who hadn't been leading a high risk lifestyle.
